Ask about electronic travel authorisation (ETA)

Use the ETA webchat if you have a general question about electronic travel authorisation (ETA).

We do not give help on the phone.

A new window will open to start a chat with a digital assistant when you select ‘start now’.

If the digital assistant cannot help, you can ask to chat to an ETA adviser during opening hours.

What you cannot do

You will not be able to use the webchat to:

  • get updates on your ETA application
  • make changes to your ETA or application
  • get details about your current ETA

Before you start

Check the ETA guidance on GOV.UK for an answer to your question.

You can also watch videos on:

It will not be possible to rely on the webchat as a record if you contact us again.

If you need to travel soon

You must apply for an ETA before you travel to the UK. You can travel to the UK while waiting for a decision.

If you are waiting for a decision on an ETA application

A decision will be sent by email. Remember to check your junk folder.

Please wait 3 working days (Monday to Friday) before contacting us.

You cannot change any details in your application after you have submitted it.

If you already have an ETA and have a new passport

You will need to apply for a new ETA.
